I know one concern that has been raised on the Comanche Nation forum is that many of our members are not close to the Lawton area. Many people have said they would love to have our CBC meetings, General Council meetings and any other meetings of importance live-streamed or at least available. There is one site called campcrier.net [I think] that does post some of the video clips but it would be great to have some live-streaming.
I agree. That isn't an inexpensive technology, but through a tech grant or something tribes can acquire stuff like that for their business purposes, and for tribal government operations, they should have that ability. We have the technology, just not the ability to apply it to social media, at least not yet. Our infrastrastructure is too lacking, as it cannot handle the visual based applications we would like to use, such as live streaming, much less watching online video without disruption. One application I think tribes could model after is KYTE.COM, which provides all of these needs from an online perspective. Cool stuff. Anyway, my .02.
Take a look at a new open-source and free hosting for a social media content management website. Digital Smoke Signals currently has several videos hosted.
